Jeep Tour Info
How long are the jeep tours?
Vail 4x4 Jeep Tours range from 3-4.5 hours depending on the trail you choose and our full-day jeep tours are 6-7 hours. Your guide can adjust your jeep tour time if needed to make a reservation or if you'd like to return earlier than planned. Custom jeep tour times can also be arranged. Just give us a call!
Where are we picked up?
No need to drive anywhere! Guests will be picked up and dropped back off at their hotels, residences, the Vail Transportation Center, or the Minturn Holy Cross Ranger Station Park and Ride. Pick-up locations will be confirmed at booking. *The Sylvan Lake and Flat-Tops jeep tours are picked up at the Eagle Park and Ride Lot in Eagle, Colorado.
What should I bring?
We recommend that each guest bring a jacket, hat, sunglasses, required medications, and a phone/camera. You are more than welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks if you like. Guides have coolers with water as well as extra jackets and blankets for anyone that forgets their gear. We recommend leaving ipads, computers, etc at home and turning cellular devices on "airplane" mode while on tour.
Will we see wildlife?
Maybe. We often see wildlife including marmots, deer, red-tailed hawks, pika, and birds. We occasionally see moose, bear, elk, and eagles. Wildlife is never promised, but our guides do their absolute best to set you up for success!
Are jeep tours safe for kids or people with disabilities?
YES! Jeep tours are safe for children, people of all ages, and clients with disabilities. Please give us a call if you need special accommodations. We love getting people into the backcountry that might not be able to experience it without us! We do recommend children be at least 2 years of age to enjoy all keeping has to offer.
What kind of training do guides have?
Our guides have YEARS of experience and are local trail and history experts. All are CPR and 1st Aid Certified. They are also trained thoroughly on all routes, emergency evacuation procedures, and recovery techniques. Most are members of the Eagle County 4x4 Club and avid off-roaders on their time off!
What if it rains?
We often experience rain storms in the high mountains. Guides will do their best to avoid inclement weather, but occasionally it happens. We carry extra rain jackets and all tour vehicles are equipped with roofs that can be put on if needed. We also carry blankets in case it gets cold. We recommend guests check the weather forecast prior to booking. If the weather is dangerous on the day of booking guests may be allowed to reschedule for another day.
Cancellation Policy
Vail 4x4 reserves the right to cancel, change trails, or rebook jeep tours at no cost to the customer based on inclement weather when safety is a concern. The trip fee will be charged in full when the trip is booked. Cancelations prior to 48 hours of the trip will refunded 100% of the trip fee. Cancelations within 48 hours of trips will be charged the full booking price.
